COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
The family of the man accused of killing a Columbus father of two is speaking out for the first time after 31-year-old Oscar James Senior was arrested.
Oscar James Senior sits in the Muscogee County Jail, held without bond for the shooting death of 31-year-old Charles Willis the corner of Lawyers Lane and 7th Street on April 13.
A memorial for the victim is still there almost six months later.
Now, for the first time, one of the suspect's relatives is speaking out. She did not want to use her name for safety reasons.
"It really takes a lot to really aggravate him. He was never the type would hang with a bunch of people or a crowd. He was basically with his brothers all the time or coming to see family members or with his girlfriend and the baby," said Senior's family member.
She told us she is now worried about her family after Senior appeared in Columbus Recorder's Court over the weekend. She and other family members were leaving the building when she says the victim's family began making threats like this toward them.
"He better be glad that he didn't make bond. We would blow his brains out," said Oscar's relative.
We spoke with some of Willis' family members who say they did not see or hear any of that happen, and they are just ready for answers in the case.
Senior's family member says she is sorry for their loss and understands what seemed like threats could have just come from grief and frustration.
"I just want them to get to the bottom of it. If Oscar knows something, I want him to speak out and tell the public or tell his lawyer or whatever. And really just get to the bottom of it so it can rest," said Senior's family member.
The family member says she did file a police report at the Columbus Police Department, but no one has been charged for the allegations.
Columbus police say they are investigating the case.
